We propose a novel approach for measuring inflation expectations, which can alleviate the rounding number problem. Furthermore, we examine how consumers form inflation expectations. We find that consumers heterogeneously update their information sets on prices; 46% of the consumers collect information about the consumer price index at least once a quarter, while the remaining consumers less frequently or never obtain this information. We also find that forecast revisions are sensitive to a change in food prices. More than half of consumers are attentive only to a change in food prices and may form their inflation expectations using food price changes as a signal of fluctuations in the overall inflation rates. The existence of consumers who are inattentive to aggregate inflation casts doubt on the transmission of monetary policy through the management of expectations. 相似文献

This paper investigates the effect of information about cross-country ratings of the government’s and the public’s reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic on consumers’ macroeconomic expectations and sentiment. We conduct consumer surveys with randomized control trials (RCTs) in two waves in Thailand and Vietnam. The information treatments have the strongest effect when the information shown contradicts consumers’ prior beliefs. In the first survey, conducted when the first lockdown was eased, treatment effects are stronger in Vietnam, causing more optimistic expectations and sentiment. This research aims to study citizens' intention to download and use the COVID-19 tracing app in France. The theoretical framework considered the theory of technology acceptance model, the theory of goal-directed behaviour, and the theory of privacy to explain the intention to use the COVID-19 tracing app. The methodology included an online survey to examine the theoretical model, which was tested using structural equation modelling. The results show that anticipated emotions, perceived usefulness, privacy concerns, and perceived permission sensitivity significantly contribute towards the intention to adopt the StopCovid app. Subjective norms and goal desire do not exert a direct impact. These findings provide both theoretical and practical implications by adding the extrinsic social value dimension to the analyses of the StopCovid app and presenting antecedents for enhancing its design and safety. 相似文献
